Senior Associate Dean for the Social Sciences

Ian H. Gotlib assumed the post of Senior Associate Dean for the Social Sciences on September 1, 2005. He holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Waterloo, 1981. His current interests include social, cognitive, and biological factors in affective disorders; neural and cognitive processing of emotional stimuli and reward by depressed persons; behavioral activation and anhedonia in depression; social, emotional, and biological risk factors for depression in children.

Departments under Senior Associate Dean Gotlib's purview are Anthropological Sciences, Applied Physics*, Communication, Cultural and Social Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, and Sociology.

*The Department of Applied Physics is part of the natural sciences cluster. However, since it is the policy of the H&S Dean's Office that senior associate deans do not oversee their home departments, for administrative purposes the Department of Applied Physics is under the purview of Senior Associate Dean Gotlib.
